Continental Training Manager - Truck Tires US in Fort Mill, South Carolina

The training manager will be responsible for the planning, development, and execution of the US Truck Tire Team’s new hire onboarding curriculum, instructor led training, and self-paced training content development. This position is the responsible to define and manage the training strategy as head of the area related to all programs to launch products (technical trainings) as well as sales process and negotiation trainings (sales development oriented trainings). The Training Manager is responsible for the Intern Program as well as managing budget and people development. Is a support and contributory position to drive and improve sales quality and P&L.

Management of Direct Reports: Manage interns and Field Sales early stages (Up to 8-10 direct reports depending on the time of year). This includes all traditional managerial roles and responsibilities including but not limited to: managing travel expenses/budgets, timesheet management, employee goal setting/reviews, truck tire sales training and development programs, training curriculum presentation, evaluation programs for FSRs to “graduate” into Field Sales roles, the development and execution of team projects, and coordinating with sales management to ensure that trainees complete their program with the skills to be successful in future sales roles.

New Hire Onboarding: Manage the onboarding curriculum that can include, but is not limited to: preparation with hiring manager pre-start date, initial training courses/content, development of a specific training curriculum that is relevant the experience of the new hire and the position that they will be going into, responsible the management of the ridealong program, and evaluation of new hire performance to identify gaps/areas to improve for new hires in coordination with sales management/hiring manager.

Production of Instructor Led Trainings: Work with the Training Coordinator and SMEs to develop, plan, and host training events for both internal audiences and customer groups. Events can be virtual and in person depending on the subject matter that is being addressed at the specific training event. Training manager also is responsible for the curriculum development and strategic direction of courses (ensure a logical flow of information and availability of needed information at the appropriate time in the learner’s development that is in line with the current needs of the organization.

Management of ContiAcademy online training platform: Oversee the development of new content for internal and customer facing sides of the site. Ensure up to date content, user information and manager hierarchies, and relevant courses based off the current needs of the TT team. Manage compliance and relationships with system vendors/purchasing

Summer Sales Internship Program: Development, management, and coordination of the Truck Tire Summer Sales Internship Program. Work with recruiting to develop talent pools at universities across the US to identify and attract top talent as juniors to bring them in for an internship. Develop and coordinate the plan/logistics for the internship program, including any coordinated events with other divisions of the company and internally with sales management. Develop an onboarding program, project, and plan that allows interns to be exposed to and work with Truck Tire management, Field Sales teams, and to have limited interactions with fleet and dealer customers that help them to learn the business while evaluating interns for potential full-time employment post-graduation. Liaise with sales management to assign mentors and make decisions on long-term offers to fill available FSR/GIT positions post internship.

Sales Specific Training: Develop tools, skills, and courses beyond a technical product focus. Teach/train salespeople and sales managers on sales methodologies, strategies, processes, and best practices. Develop sales trainings specific to the level of the learner (onboarding to advanced learner). Incorporate sales methodologies into new and existing trainings including instructor led trainings, self-paced trainings, or other virtual offerings. Also offer programs/support to help enhance the value proposition of our sales team through the support of programs such as dealer onboarding programs, tailored trainings on specific topics to improve sales within targeted audiences, and engagement with fleet/dealer training teams to help develop their internal sales/product training curriculums. Partner with other teams within Truck Tire such as Pricing, Market Intelligence, Sales Distribution, Product Management to support/develop sales trainings to grow sales/CMC in targeted areas, products, distribution channels, or to work with specific Field Sales teams to help enhance their value presentation to customers in certain focused topics depending on current demand/focus.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related area.

  • 7+ years related professional experience

  • Automotive industry experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 Years sales, marketing and/or training experience

  • Excellent Interpersonal skills.
